Since its inception, LUV has connected over 100,000 students across 35 countries, providing a truly global classroom experience that nurtures empathy, creativity, and collaboration. As a rapidly growing company, LUV recognized the need for a major platform revamp to ensure their infrastructure could keep up with the increasing demand and continue to provide a seamless experience for users.
The Challenge
The legacy infrastructure of LUV relied heavily on EC2 instances and tightly coupled resources. Although this setup was effective for a time, the company sought a more lightweight, scalable solution that would allow for quicker deployments and better accommodate their anticipated growth. Moreover, LUV faced the challenge of processing large volumes of video content and needed a system capable of supporting multiple devices.
Security was also a top priority for LUV. They required a robust infrastructure that could protect sensitive data and maintain privacy for their global user base. Thus, they needed a solution that would implement strong encryption measures both at rest and in transit.
To address these needs, LUV approached Cloudacio, a leading AWS consulting partner, for assistance in setting up a new, secure, and reliable infrastructure that would serve the platform’s increasing demand and position them for future success.

Our Solution
Cloudacio proposed a shift from LUV’s existing architecture to a microservice-oriented architecture, which would enable greater scalability, flexibility, and security. To achieve this, we decoupled services like databases and migrated them to specialized AWS services, such as Amazon RDS. The frontend was deployed using AWS Amplify, while the backend was moved to Amazon ECS Fargate.
To ensure the highest level of security, Cloudacio implemented encryption at rest and in transit across the entire platform. This included using AWS Key Management Service (KMS) for managing encryption keys, Amazon S3 server-side encryption for data storage, and enforcing HTTPS for secure data transmission. These measures strengthened LUV’s security posture, safeguarding sensitive information and providing peace of mind to their global community of users.
Additionally, Cloudacio implemented pipelines for each environment and application, ensuring a seamless and efficient deployment process. To address the challenge of processing large amounts of video content and supporting multiple devices, we transitioned from the legacy AWS Elastic Transcoder to AWS MediaConvert and utilized AWS Lambda functions for video processing, in conjunction with S3 and Cloudfront, for secure storage and faster delivery.
The result is a state-of-the-art infrastructure that not only meets LUV’s current demands but also sets the stage for continued growth and success. By adopting a microservice-oriented architecture and leveraging AWS’s powerful suite of tools, LUV can now effectively scale, secure, and manage their platform, ensuring a seamless experience for users worldwide.
